Allison Westfahl-Kong spent her Speech and Debate career competing in Student Congress, parliamentary debate, and original oratory at Claremont High School. These events helped her develop a strong foundation in research, advocacy, and leadership, which stayed with her after high school. She now serves as a judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court, and continues to build on the skills and lessons learned throughout her incredible academic and professional journey.
Known affectionately as Ady, Ohad Barkan was one of Claremont’s Congress champions during his time on the Speech and Debate team. He took the skills he developed debating mock policy into the real world, and became an influential advocate for awareness around ALS. He also fought hard to protect Medicare. Ady’s achievements include testifying before Congress, being interviewed by Democratic presidential candidates and speaking at the Democratic National Convention. Sadly, ALS took his life in late 2018.
